The Supersert® threaded insert is a steel, low profile, plain bodied, expanding insert available in standard and metric thread sizes. An expanding insert is a single piece, which breaks into two pieces during installation. The lower threaded section of the insert draws up inside the upper sleeve section, causing the sleeve to expand 360o thus swaging the insert into the hole. Because the insert does not form a bubble on the backside of the application, an expanding insert can be used in blind hole applications. However, an expanding insert has less resistance to push out forces than a bubbling insert, which collapses into a bubble formation on the backside of the application. The low profile flange of the Supersert® insert results in near flush installation and clamp up making it ideal for flush fitting, thin sheet and low load bearing applications.
- Not grip sensitive
- Can be used in thick materials from 0.8mm (0.03 Inch), including blind holes
- Mechanical locking mechanism for applications requiring higher resistance to push out and pull out
- Access needed from only one side of the application, for high speed assembly
- Provide a female thread in application
- Can be installed in pre-coated or post painted applications without damaging the surface
- Low profile head allows near flush fit to application
