The Q Rivet is a high strength, high clamp, structural breakstem rivet offering the greatest variety of any Avdel® structural breakstem rivet. It is available in aluminum, stainless steel or steel and sizes of 1/8", 5/32", 3/16" and 1/4". The Q Rivet provides moderate hole filling properties where the rivet will expand radially into the application hole to provide a strong, vibration resistant joint and compensate for irregular, oversized, slotted or misaligned holes. Also, it can stop sheet movement in applications with non-standard holes. For maximum performance the Q Rivet relies on an internal friction lock between the rivet body and mandrel and a uniquely designed mandrel head. The internal friction lock occurs when locking grooves on the mandrel slide along the inner wall of the rivet body during installation. The locking grooves scrape material from the rivet wall and the loose material accumulates in the grooves. This helps to lock the mandrel in place once the rivet is installed. The mandrel head is flat on one side, which causes material to gather between the mandrel head and locking grooves and effects a weather tight seal when the rivet is installed properly. The remaining portion of the mandrel head is contoured. The rivet body takes that shape during installation and encapsulates the mandrel to prevent it from falling out during the life cycle of the application.
- Interference lock formed by a splined stem provides powerful locking strength and hole filling
- Weatherproof fastener because the splined stem plugs the entire length of the shell
- High shear and tensile strength
- Interference lock formed by a splined stem
- Spreads the tail bearing load/clamp on the rear sheet
- Ideal for thin sheet materials
- Provides strong, vibration resistant joints
- No damage, electrical problems or rattling due to loose stems
