The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) is a supplement of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) used by the Department of Defense. DFARS 252.225-7014, Preference for Domestic Specialty Metals, is a regulation that requires US government contractors and their suppliers manufacturing military parts, components, or end-item deliverables containing “specialty metals” to use only metals that have been melted in the United States or a qualifying country listed in DFARS 225.872-1.

All standard catalog items offered by Bay Fastening Systems comply with DFARS section 252.225-7009 and as such are offered as commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) items. COTS items are exempt from the requirements of section 252.225.7014, Specialty Metal requirements.
