Identical in appearance to regular open-end rivets, Soft-Set Rivets incorporate a body and mandrel of special aluminum alloys. Breaking at a lower tensile point than regular mandrels, they afford a firm grip, but provide the more moderate pressures essential in fastening some of the more brittle materials.
Providing low cost fastenings, soft set rivets are ideal for a wide variety of applications. They are available in a wide variety of materials and combinations with dome, countersunk, or large-flange head styles. A universally accepted range of rivets suitable for most industrial riveting applications where the materials to be fastened do not have high load bearing requirements.
Rivet bodies are available in a range of materials for complete workpiece compatibility. The rivets are available in pure aluminum, aluminum 2.5%, 3.5% and 5.0% magnesium alloy, copper, mild steel, nickel-copper alloy, and stainless steel and are normally supplied with Break Stem mandrels which promote retention of the head of the mandrel in the set rivet body.
